Natera offers additional screening tests for Sex Chromosome Abnormalities (Monosomy X, aka Turner syndrome) and conditions like 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (DiGeorge syndrome) for a self-pay price. It is important to know that these tests may have an increased risk of a false positive result. The Prenatal Screening Program is supported by program fees. The fees for screening are $232 for cell-free DNA (cfDNA) screening and $85 for maternal serum alpha-fetoprotein (MSAFP) screening. Medi-Cal and private insurance must cover all program fees, with only a few exceptions. The exceptions are self-insured employers and out-of-state health plans.

 

 

We offer carrier screening through the Natera company. Please note that the prices (below) are self-pay prices. Natera accepts all insurances for Horizon Carrier Screening. Most patients pay less than the self-pay rates when billing through insurance. If the patient's cost through insurance is estimated to exceed the self-pay rates, Natera will contact them to ask them how they'd like to pay: insurance or cash. How to complete the testing

• Please let us know your preferences for testing by about 10-12 weeks of pregnancy

• Once you have informed us of your testing preferences, please give us 1 week to prepare your test kit.

• When your test kit is ready to be picked up, you will receive a My Health Online message.

• You will then need to stop by the OBGYN clinic during business hours (8a-5p) to pick up your test kit and take it to our Sutter lab (in the same building) for completion.
